Aitzaz Hassan, 15, died saving his school from a suicide bomber in Hangu regardless of pleas of his friends to run away from that person who was wearing a vest of explosives. Everyone in Pakistan soon after this heroic incident started calling him a ‘hero’ and demanded highest military award for bravery which is Nishan-e-Haider on social and traditional media.
Syed Talat Hussain @TalatHussain12 , who is a senior anchor at SaachTv and a political analyst tweeted
“Any civilized society would have honoured Aitzaz Bangash as a national hero. He qualifies for Nishan-e-Haider.”
omar r quraishi @omar_quraishi , who is a an active journalist on social media and affiliated with The Express Tribune tweeted his views about this incident.
“Heroes that Pakistanis should be looking up to as role models: Student Aitzaz who tackled a suicide bomber and died”
Atizaz hassan Bangash’s family was grief stricken at their loss yet at the same time very proud of their son’s bravery. While talking to The Express Tribune his father express his feeling that many people were coming to see him but if they tried to express sympathy, he told them to congratulate him instead on becoming the father of a martyr. He further added that he would be more than happy if his second son also sacrifices his life for the country.
His father compared his act of fortitude to a well known educationalist Malala Yousufzai who was shotin head by the terrorist group,TTP and survived in that incident. She then praised this heroic attempt of that teenager student and pleaded to the Government to praise him with ‘Highest National Award’
He described Aitzaz as “brave” and a good student who always used to say that he is ever ready for his country.
After 5 days of a constant urging form prominent people of society on social media for the recognition of this huge courage act, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif recommended him for Sitara-e-Shujaat which is the third highest civilian bravery award’14. He is yet to receive any acknowledgement from the Government after 5 days of delay.
By making cry only his mother, he have saved many other mother’s children and not giving it a second though even after his friends were calling him to let that suicide bomber go away his didn’t let him. What single word comes into mind when we hear such story. Bravery. Yet it is taking 5 days for our government to take into consideration this act of courage. They still need to think over it when he never gave it a second though to save his own life instead of others.
In this world of race and self-worth, he prioritized his school, his friends, and teachers upon himself. What other bravest performance does our government expect from their citizens?
He surely deserves this award but the question here is “will the government give him this acknowledgement or not if yes then how much more delayed it will be.
